The Crown Imperial is a tall, stately plant which likes to catch all attention and therefore should be planted in between perennials which flower later in the season. Fritillaria imperialis ‘Lutea’ has yellow flowers with faint purple veins and a musky scent (that keeps rabbits and deer away). Always plant Fritillaria on its side to avoid rotting.
